My Top 5 Travel Picks for 2026

I don’t know about you, but this year I’ve hit that point where I’m just done waiting around. If I want to go somewhere, I’m going. Life’s too short to keep pushing things back on the calendar or waiting for someone else to be free. So, I’ve been researching a few places I either will be booking or wish I was booking this year and honestly?
These five countries have EVERYTHING I want in a trip:
1. Japan:
I’ve had Japan on my list for what feels like forever. And not just because of the cherry blossoms or the temples (though those are stunning) it’s the energy. You’ve got Tokyo, where everything moves fast, and you’re surrounded by lights, fashion, tech, and tiny restaurants with the best food you’ll ever eat. Then you go to Kyoto or Nara and it slows right down. Peaceful, traditional, proper culture.
Also, food. Let’s not pretend that’s not half the reason to go. Fresh sushi, ramen, weird snacks from vending machines… I’m here for all of it.
It’s a proper bucket list trip, but one that actually feels worth the money.
2. Greece:
Everyone and their nan has been to Greece, but I still LOVE it. A lot of people do the obvious bits like Zante or Mykonos and think they’ve “done” it. But there’s so much more than the party side.
You’ve got little villages that barely show up on Google Maps, tiny family-run restaurants where you end up staying for hours, beaches with actual space to breathe, and sunsets that don’t need a filter.
It’s easy, it’s warm, the food’s insane, and it’s the kind of place where you can actually switch off properly. You can make it as cheap or as boujee as you want, and it always feels like a good idea.
3. Costa Rica:
This one feels like a reset. Everything’s green, the pace is slower, and it feels a million miles from the day to day. I don’t know anyone who’s gone and not come back raving about it.
It’s the kind of place that makes you want to spend more time outside. Wake up early, walk barefoot, eat fresh food, sit by the sea. It sounds simple, but that’s why it works.
It’s not as overdone as Bali or Thailand, but still gives that same peaceful vibe, without the chaos. Definitely one of those trips where you come back feeling like your head’s clearer and your energy’s better.
4. South Africa:
I feel like South Africa still flies under the radar, and it really shouldn’t. Cape Town is absolutely stunning. You’ve got views for days, great food (yes, it’s a theme), and a mix of everything, beach, mountains, proper city energy, and loads to do that doesn’t feel “touristy.”
Then there’s the safari side. If you’ve ever wanted to see actual elephants or lions in the wild (not in a zoo), this is where you go. It’s proper bucket list stuff.
Also, if you’re into wine, the vineyards out there are next level. And not in a “wine snob” kind of way, more like laid-back afternoons with a glass in hand and views that look fake. It’s SUCH A VIBE.
5. Turkey:
Turkey surprised me. I always used to think it was just cheap resorts and hotel buffets. But once you look a bit deeper, it’s honestly such a strong option.
Places like Fethiye, Bodrum, and Kas have these unreal beaches, proper markets, and the friendliest people. You can do a full holiday there without spending crazy money, and still get those moments where you’re like, “Wow, this is actually stunning.”
The food is 10/10. And everything feels easy. You don’t have to over plan. Just book it, turn up, and you’ll have a good time.
In conclusion…
I don’t believe in perfect holidays, but I do believe in the power of a good getaway to fix your mood, shift your perspective, or just help you breathe properly again.
These five countries are on my radar this upcoming year, not because they’re trending or “aesthetic” but because they genuinely offer something solid. Real experiences, real value, and the kind of memories that actually stick.
If any of these destinations are calling your name, and you want help finding something that fits your vibe and budget, drop me a message. I’ll sort you out with something that actually makes sense for you. With real expert advice and options you’ll actually want to book!
