“What If This Really Worked?” The Thought That Changed My Life

Have you ever caught yourself daydreaming at your desk, thinking there has to be more to life than this? I used to do it all the time.

Staring at the same screen, eating the same sad lunch at my desk, knowing exactly how my day would play out… and the day after that… and the week after that... It was always the same routine: work, sleep, repeat. The only thing to look forward to was the weekend, and even that flew by in what felt like two hours.

I’d see people online travelling, working from their laptops in cute cafés, or simply having the freedom to plan their day their way, and I’d think, that could never be me. But then I asked myself the question that flipped everything on its head: “What if this really worked?”

What if starting an online business wasn’t just a scam, or a silly dream, or something only ‘lucky’ people succeed at? What if it was actually the doorway to a different kind of life?

The truth is, we’re conditioned to believe that the “safe route” is working 60+ years in a 9-5 job, hoping to squeeze a bit of happiness into weekends and annual leave. But here’s the secret nobody tells you: that’s not safe, it’s predictable. Safe is building something that belongs to you.

Starting online can feel scary, especially if you’ve never done it before. But guess what? Everyone starts with zero experience, zero confidence, and zero followers. Every single person you look up to online was once exactly where you are right now: curious, hesitant, and wondering if they should take the risk.

I’m not saying you need to jump into something overnight. But what if instead of thinking about all the reasons it might not work… you allowed yourself to think about what your life could look like if it did? Imagine:

Having the flexibility to work where you want.

Being able to say yes to more experiences without checking your annual leave.

Building something that actually grows with your effort, instead of someone else’s.

The scariest risk is staying stuck in the exact same place forever.

So if you’ve ever had that little tug in your chest telling you there’s more for me, listen to it.

That was the very beginning of my story, and it could be the start of yours too.
